How to create a 64 bit compatible installer

Postby bhoomika » Wed Sep 07, 2011 3:16 am

I have created an installer with all files and binaries compatible to 64 bit. But still whenever i try to run the installer on windows 7 64 bit system the text string <%PROGRAM_FILES%> and <%SYSTEM32%> always point to C:\Program Files(x86) and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 resp. Which means the installer is behaving like a 32 bit application installer and is getting redirected to these folder. I want my installer to behave like a 64 bit installer and all the files getting by default redirected to C:\Program Files and C:\Windows\System32. Can someone please help as soon as possible.

Use below TCL script to set default install directory on Win7 64bit. On searching this forum, found this and it is working.

Code: Select all
::InstallAPI::SetVirtualText -virtualtext PROGRAM_FILES -value $::env(ProgramW6432)
::InstallAPI::SetVirtualText -virtualtext InstallDir -value <%PROGRAM_FILES%>/<%Company%>/<%AppName%>
